I've always loved the music of James Taylor and this song is no exception. With "Fire and Rain," Taylor crafts a memorable melody with a unique chord progression and captivating yet ambiguous lyrics that all come together in a beautiful way. In this arrangement, I used the folk song "Oh, Susannah" by Stephen Foster to serve as an introduction to the main song. This idea came about after listening to both songs on the album Taylor's second album "Sweet Baby James" where the track "Oh, Susannah" plays right before "Fire and Rain". I thought it was clever to put the tracks in this sequence since Taylor uses the name "Suzanne" in the lyrics of "Fire and Rain," which I thought tied the two songs together in a unique way.
