A messenger came hard from the South, frost still clinging to his cloak and fear plain upon his face. His tidings were grim. A new host of Angmar crosses the northern frontier in great number — wild hill-men, goblins from the deep places, wargs loping beneath the cold moon, and trolls dragged forth from whatever dark pits still breed them. A desperate muster, by all accounts. Yet desperate foes are oft the most dangerous of all. The men have marched far. They have bled much. Their shields are battered and their bones cry out for rest. But rest is a mercy this war will not grant them. The horns will sound again before long, and once more we must stand where the storm breaks. Yet we are not wholly alone in this bitter hour. Word has been sent, and reinforcements march even now from friendly lands. Whether they will arrive in time… that lies in the hands of fate. So we hold. We bar the gates. We set our watch.
