I fell in love with this haunting Irish tune, The Parting Glass, and gave a whirl at learning it on my tin whistle. And why not add some sunrise footage that I took at the OBX? Yes, I know a sunSET would be more appropriate... I'll get right on that as soon as I get to travel cross country to the west coast. ;-) I hope the sound quality is at least decent. I'm a self-taught whistler with no sound equipment, so I just recorded this on my cheap MP3 recorder in the quietest room of my house that I could find (not very quiet). Thank goodness for free sound editing software! For those interested, this is on my Clarke D tin whistle. I hoped the softer sound would be better for a recording than my Freeman tweaked Generation whistles. Lyrics to the song: "Oh all the money that e'er I spent I spent it in good company And all the harm that e'er I've done Alas, it was to none but me And all I've done for want of wit To memory now I can't recall So fill to me the parting glass Good night and joy be with you all Oh all the comrades that e'er I've had Are sorry for my going away And all the sweethearts that e'er I've had Would wish me one more day to stay But since it falls unto my lot That I should rise and you should not I'll gently rise and I'll softly call Good night and joy be with you all"
