Eight UK police forces are now reviewing material from the US Epstein files — but the decisive shift tonight is the formal involvement of the National Crime Agency. The NCA is Britain’s lead body for serious and organised crime. It coordinates complex, cross-border investigations involving trafficking, exploitation, major corruption and organised criminal networks. It does not typically step in for routine local matters. Its presence signals national coordination and structured assessment at scale. The agency has confirmed it is supporting forces conducting what is described as a “full and independent” review of millions of documents released by the US Department of Justice relating to Jeffrey Epstein. At the same time, the Metropolitan Police is assessing claims that close protection officers may have failed in their duties during visits to Little Saint James. That raises separate questions about potential misconduct in public office.
