A tour of our little farmette and around the homestead. The farm is situated on just 7 and a half acers. We are a diversified small farm on the New York border with Vermont. We grow cut flowers, berries and produce shittake mushrooms, maple syrup, honey, and raise 7 types of poultry. Turkey, Chickens, Indian Runner ducks, Sebastopol geese, Guinea and pea fowl, and Emu. It is not uncommon to see one of our peacocks just roaming around. We sell live birds and eggs for hatching and eating. We also raise pygora goats and alpaca for fiber. We use llama and Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dogs (LGD) to protect our herd and flock. We have barn cats that entertain as well as protect us from rodents. This video is an introduction to our farm and life hear on the homestead. We strive to produce food and fiber to feed and clothe ourselves and our community. We hope to share our experiences with folks that want to see how, on a small scale a sustainable farm can grow, sometimes fail, learn, and thrive. We are avid gardeners and love to surround ourselves with the beauty of the natural world. We do all this while both working full time day jobs. The farmette is a second full time job.
