In this episode of Whitefish Credit Union Presents: Member Stories, we meet Bud Cheff Jr., a Montana native who fell in love with the state from a young age and has been dedicated to preserving its history ever since. After discovering a pack rat nest containing artifacts from the Flathead Reservation and early Montana, Bud began collecting whatever artifacts he could find to memorialize the area's culture. In 1997, he and his wife Laurel opened the Ninepipes Museum of Early Montana to share these treasures with others. Bud's family has deep roots in Montana, and his commitment to preserving its history has earned him recognition, including the prestigious 2021 heritage award from the Montana Historical Society. The museum is supported by the Whitefish Credit Union, which shares its mission to discover, preserve, and protect the history and culture of the Flathead Reservation and early Montana. Join us as we explore Bud's love for Montana and the unique story behind the Ninepipes Museum.
