I am not a cartoon, I am a real thyroid cancer patient. This is a light-hearted look at serious topics related to the disease: ✅ 1. Quality of life ✅ 2. Serious side effects of thyroid surgery — often discounted or ignored by doctors ✅ 3. The ignorance of, “taking a little” pill as the only inconvenience post-thyroid surgery. ✅ 4. Common side-effects resulting from thyroid surgery include weight gain, depression, despair, body pain, and insomnia. ✅ 5. Before cutting a patient open — a doctor must have a serious discussion with the patient — and help assess the real impact of thyroid removal and potential medical errors. ✅ 6. Is the cure worse than the disease? ✅ 7. Post-surgery — downgrade of quality of life — will impact high-performing individuals worse compared to those who live a sedentary lifestyle. ✅ 8. Medical errors are more common than reported. ✅ 9. Patients must be made aware of reckless, incompetent surgeons. The lack of transparency in healthcare must change. Bad surgeons should not be protected by a veil of secrecy that covers up their incompetence. ✅ 10. Thyroid cancer surgery causes weight gain and brain fog - these are not the imagination of the patient(s) like they are told by some doctors. About me: My surgery at UCLA by Dr. Michael Yeh was a medical mishap — I was rushed into surgery. Dr. Yeh used fear to get me into the operating room, he did not discuss the potential bad outcomes — instead he said it was a safe surgery and life would be normal afterwards, simply by taking a little pill. He told me it was the good cancer. Since his bad surgery, life has been anything but normal. During the surgery, Dr. Yeh paralyzed my vocal cord, caused nerve damage to my shoulder, damaged my parathyroids, and left residual cancer behind. My attempts to follow up with him about the setbacks, were met with arrogance — my complaints to UCLA and their CEO went unanswered. I use my bad experience as inspiration to help others.
