It recently came to my attention that there exists 2 versions of this 24" TPI floor fan -- this one, the F-24-TE, and the F-24-TE-HV. I have no idea of the time frame of when the -HV model came out in correlation to the regular one. Specification wise, the -HV model is about twice as powerful as the -TE one. I have only used the F-24-TE in the old studio and a few other small areas at the old location, therefore I did not have a good understand of how it worked. It seemed powerful in those testing spaces, but in a much larger area, the performance will be perceived differently. A test in the living room did reveal unimpressive performance, especially in relation to the 18" model. The 18" model is exceptional for something made today, I would go as far as to say it is on par in terms of performance with the old Patton fans from years ago. The 18" model is rated for 2.2 amps, meanwhile this larger 24" model only pulls 1.5 amps. The motor is definitely under-powered for this application, and to make up for it, the blade runs at an extremely high speed with very little pitch. The result of this design is a very loud fan with limited CFM volume. While this fan is not useless, it's certainly not quite as strong as I would expect for something of this size. As the video linked below shows, a motor replacement and increase in blade pitch should make this F-24-TE more comparable in performance to the F-24-TE-HV, which hopefully will result in a slower speed fan that moves more air at a lot less noise. • TPI 24" High Velocity Industrial Floor Fan... I have attempted to increase the pitch on these blades with this motor in the past, and was able to get significantly better performance out of it, but ultimately found the motor was not strong enough and ran too hot.
