Foam Board RC Plane Design - Lessons Learned Follow along in this video as I discuss foam board RC plane design with two of my original airplane designs, the Foam Bug and the Rocketeer. I'll discuss my thoughts on building these aircraft, show some flight video and discuss lessons learned for a stronger follow on design. Foamboard is a great resource for the DIY RC plane enthusiast, as it is inexpensive, widely available and easy to work with. The first design was a rapid prototype to see how foam board went together, what size worked for electric RC models and most importantly how the model flew. Test flights went great and lead to the low wing follow on, the Rocketeer. Lessons learned cover making the models more robust with a plywood keel that can be glued to the firewall. Free plans are included. Just screen capture the plans and enlarge to a size that suits you desired model.
