See the developer show off the prototype world editor for Port Defender 2. The editor is running in Chrome with three.js doing most of the heavy lifting. You may ask why chrome, why not write a native app, well its a fun challenge, and I really want to get a web based work flow for content creation, just like for the original Port Defender. As you can see the world is pretty blocky, which is similar to the minecraft in some aspects, but we are building an engine were we can mix in flat and skinned tiles, so we can have jagged edges, to break up the straight lines. Also we can embellish the landscape and place roads and bridges as set pieces. The textures will look washed out, and this just for development. We are developing textures with LOD in mind, so we have huge source files which are being squeezed down into known detail levels.
