Adolescent pregnancy remains a leading cause of school dropouts, poverty, and social exclusion among girls in Uganda. Teenage mothers, especially in refugee-hosting districts, face compounded vulnerabilities including stigma, limited access to healthcare, economic marginalization, and weak social protection systems. Kikuube, established in 2018 in Western Uganda’s Bunyoro region, is a major refugee-hosting district, with over 379,000 refugees, mainly from the Democratic Republic of Congo, making up 33.8% of its population. The influx has placed immense pressure on social services such as health, education, water, and child protection.
