PrayerFULL: Whose Name Do I Pray To? This message is brought to you by Pastor Darryl Morrison Scriptures: 1 Samuel 12:23; Acts 7:57-60; John 14:12-14; John 16:23-24 1 Samuel 12:23 23 Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you; but I will teach you the good and the right way. Thrust Statement: There’s power in our prayers when we pray to the Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, and by the power of the Holy Spirit. Why Pray in Jesus' Name? Access through Christ: Jesus said, "No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6), making Him the way to God. Authority: It means asking God to act on your behalf through Jesus' power and merits. (the power of prayer comes from the Name you choose to use when you pray, I or me vs. Jesus) To Whom Do You Pray? To the Father: Jesus instructed His disciples to pray to God the Father (Matthew 6:9). Identification: It shows you are praying as a follower of Christ, aligned with His character and submission to God's will. (Our identity is not most important when we pray, His is) By The Authority of Jesus: Since Jesus is God, praying to Him is praying to God. (In the authority of Jesus Christ) Empowered by the Holy Spirit: The Spirit also leads us in prayer (Romans 8:26-27). (Empowered or by the power of the Holy Spirit) Promises of Prayer: Pray to God in the name of Jesus 1. Call upon God in Jesus’ name: He will hear you (Acts 7:59) 2. Whatever you ask in My name: that I will do; that the Father may be glorified in the Son (John 14:12-14) 3. Ask the Father in My name: ask and you will receive (John 16:23-24) Summary: If your name represented how God responded to your prayers what would be said of your family? It represents your character, nature, and reputation. “Our Theme For The Church Is Together, so this year I believe God is calling us to Pray Together” Our 2026 Prayer Commitments: 1.
