In this video review, Chris talks through the Halvarssons Trenton jacket. Now, we love Halvarssons. And that’s not just because we are their largest retailer outside of Sweden. The company is perhaps better known for its technical textiles, but based in Malung, which is the leather capital of Sweden, the company has access to some great hides. The Trenton, which is loosely based on the USAAF A2 jacket from the last war, is made from goatskin. The A2, by the way, is the jacket worn by Steve McQueen in the Great Escape. Now goatskin is thinner than cowhide, but for a given thickness it is stronger than cowhide. We think it makes for great bike gear. The Trenton falls into that category of bike jackets that don’t look like bike jackets. On the street it’ll pass for just a cool-looking, leather jacket. But on the bike, it will deliver everything you need. It is rated AA under EN17092, and comes complete with Level 1 armour in the shoulders and elbows. The leather is also backed with Hi-Art for extra abrasion resistance. Although it’s somewhat of a back-to-basics number, Chris will fill you in on all the details. If you’re looking for a lightweight, easy-to-wear jacket that is more for the summer than the winter, a jacket looks as good off the bike as on it, you should give consideration to the Trenton.
