First point, The Devil’s Strategy: He Starts in the Heart John 13:2 “The devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot…” Guard your heart, because what gets in your heart will guide your life. John 13:2 shows how the enemy influences but does not control. He plants thoughts (Ephesians 6:11), tempts the flesh (James 1:14–15), & seeks a foothold (Ephesians 4:27). The enemy works by infiltration, not invasion; he whispers before he wounds 1. What thoughts, attitudes, or habits have I quietly allowed into my heart that may be shaping my choices away from Christ? Second point, The Disciple’s Struggle: Spiritual Blind Spots in Good People #Judas sat at Jesus’ table, saw His miracles, heard His teaching, and yet opened the door to darkness. Closeness to religion is not the same as closeness to Jesus. John 13:2 exposes the danger of spiritual familiarity. Judas knew Jesus publicly but did not love Him personally.
