Rather than rushing into a teardown, this opening episode sets context and intent—exploring Peugeot’s legacy as a French bicycle manufacturer, the design philosophy behind late-1980s steel road bikes, and why models like the Versailles still matter today. I assess the bike as it sits, walk through each major component, and outline an approach rooted in restraint, respect for original engineering, and the belief that good work starts with understanding.
