Independent investigation underway after man with gun killed by Seattle police

An independent investigation is now underway into the fatal officer-involved shooting near the Othello light rail station on Tuesday afternoon. One man died, and a bystander had minor injuries from shattered glass as bullets flew through the typically busy neighborhood. Officers were called to the area around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday for reports of a shirtless man waving a gun. Officers ultimately shot and killed the man after they said he advanced towards them.
