On July 14th PWCUP Online took place -- an event hosted by the Japanese FZ99 Community where five Mini Prixs were played in a row, with the pilots then being ranked based on who scored the most amount of points overall. MP1: I was looking to use my spin attack after the first dash plate on mMCIII, but after what happened in this race, I've started doing it before the first dash plate instead, and hope to the F-ZERO gods I don't get shoved into the wall before the second one. For some reason I thought I could save my early skyway on mPTI. The only reason I can think of as to why I thought that is because I simply had forgot about that you can't do that in this sort of lobby. A rookie mistake to say the least and a rough awekening. Rating: 💩 MP2: MC3 went alright I guess in the sense that I didn't die. Another missed dash plate at the start of mRCI put me off to another bad start. I was able to survive one close finish-line, but not two of them. Rating: 💩 MP3: Missed the dash-plate at the start of mMC1 as well, but thanks to an early skyway it didn't matter too much. The missed dash-plate on the skyway on lap 3 is completely unexaplainable btw. mRCI round two, and this time I managed to get a better start. This still would have been a likely rank out though if it wasn't for the KOs I was able to get. I definitely could have survived WLI, but let's just say I hope Nintendo will add that you can disable blues in private lobbies for the next update. Rating: ⭐ MP4: Standard hellish MCI, but I'll definitely take a podium position on SO (all thanks to a lucky opponent-KO). On mRCII I had a decent placement happening, but then I totally mistimed my spin attack as I did it way before the last jump. Not sure how I didn't rank out that one. This was an okay MP solely on the fact that I survived all the tracks for once. Rating: ⭐⭐ MP5: Pretty satisfied with this MCI actually, don't think I can expect much better without a massive amount of luck. Round 3 of mRCI, and this was also pretty good I think for the same reasons. Unfortunately I wasn't able to survive WLI thanks to an unfortunate hit on a grey bumper. Although, the game said I was 44th when crossing the finish line... but I guess we can blame it on NSO. Rating: ⭐ I definitely wasn't very happy with my performance overall in this event. I had played the game pretty regularly leading up to the event, and felt fairly confident going into it, but playing in this sort of lobby just can't be compared to anything else in this game, which makes it very hard to prepare for in an ideal way. But besides the feeling of not having enough ideal preparation, I definitely made a lot of blunders that just can't be explained in any other way than me just not driving too well (at least not as good as I think is possible) As the event went on, I felt more and more comfortable in my driving, but then of course it was all too late. Next time, I should try maybe watching VODs of these stacked tournaments beforehand and attempt to visualise what to expect a bit more, since I can't really prepare for them the way you'd want to in-game. Disclaimer: In the end my rank is shown as 64th in the official results, but in actuality I was ranked a little higher as I wasn't able to add my last score in time -- apparently you weren't allowed to add the scores for the last MP immediately, and I had to leave right as it ended. So I believe my total score was 556 which would put me at 55th instead. Bracket: https://tonamel.com/competition/9Kfh9 Timestamps: 00:00 Intro 00:23 MP1 04:52 MP2 10:05 MP3 17:50 MP4 27:12 MP5
