Happy Wednesday!! One of the most iconic rides at Disney's Animal Kingdom has closed it's doors at the 2nd of Febuary 2026. The footage that you see is partly composed of what filmed in 2014 and 2024. Some was featured in our daylyvlog where you can also see the old DinoLand USA. The ride featured a turbulent journey through the late Cretaceous period, featuring prehistoric scenes populated with dinosaur audio-animatronics. Originally named Countdown to Extinction when the park opened on April 22, 1998, the ride was re-named to Dinosaur in 2000 to promote Disney Animation's feature film of the same name, setting the attraction as part of the Dino Institute. In both Countdown to Extinction and Dinosaur, the two prominently featured dinosaurs were the Iguanodon and Carnotaurus, which were also featured in the film. Scenes from the movie also appeared in the pre-show, to help the guests identify Aladar, the Iguanodon and the film's protagonist. In August 2024, it was announced at the D23 fan event that the area that the ride is located in, DinoLand U.S.A., will be replaced with a new land called Tropical Americas, which is expected to open in Fall 2027, with an Indiana Jones attraction replacing Dinosaur. Een van de meest iconische attracties in Disney's Animal Kingdom sloot op 2 februari 2026 definitief zijn deuren. De beelden die je ziet, zijn deels opgenomen in 2014 en 2025. Een deel ervan was te zien in onze dagelijkse vlog, waar je ook het oude DinoLand USA kunt bekijken. De attractie bood een turbulente reis door het late Krijt, met prehistorische scènes bevolkt door audio-animatronics van dinosaurussen. Oorspronkelijk heette de attractie Countdown to Extinction toen het park opende op 22 april 1998. In 2000 werd de naam veranderd in Dinosaur om de gelijknamige Disney Animation-film te promoten, waarmee de attractie onderdeel werd van het Dino Institute. In zowel Countdown to Extinction als Dinosaur waren de twee meest prominente dinosaurussen de Iguanodon en de Carnotaurus, die ook in de film te zien waren. In de pre-show werden ook scènes uit de film getoond, zodat de bezoekers Aladar, de Iguanodon en de hoofdpersoon van de film, konden herkennen. In augustus 2024 werd tijdens het D23-fanevenement aangekondigd dat het gebied waar de attractie zich bevindt, DinoLand U.S.A., zal worden vervangen door een nieuw themagebied genaamd Tropical Americas, dat naar verwachting in het najaar van 2027 zal openen en waar een Indiana Jones-attractie de plaats van Dinosaur zal innemen.
