Some cars which I revisit in GT6 are such no brainers to come back in Gran Turismo that it really does seem flabbergasting. The C5 Corvette for example, or more recently the Mitsubishi Evo IX which we of course finally have back thanks to a GT7 update. The DC5 Integra Type R is another, a car which is so iconic in the modern JDM scene that it seems stranger than strange to not already have it in the game, especially with the even more iconic DC2 Integra already being added previously... ''Unlike the Type R models before it, the 2001 Honda Integra Type R was an all-new machine engineered from the ground up, as opposed to a spiced up version of an existing model that comprised of a stiffer suspension and new body kit. As a result, Honda engineers were very thorough in endowing the car with a high degree of performance and refinement, but not at the expense of everyday driving comfort. For example, sound insulation was taken out to save weight, but the engineers made a concerted effort to reduce noise and vibration to the absolute minimum to secure a high level of comfort. That said, the driving performance of this Type R was greatly improved over its predecessors. This was thanks mainly to what sat under the hood: a revised K20A motor that was a 2.0-liter DOHC inline-4 with i-VTEC that pumped out 217 HP and 151.8 ft-lb of torque. It featured a lightweight flywheel for improved throttle response and was mated to a close-ratio 6-speed manual gearbox with multi-cone synchro gears. The suspension employed struts up front and double wishbones at the rear, while the brakes were supplied by Brembo, making this Type R the first Honda equipped with factory Brembos. The Honda Integra Type R could arguably have been the best handling FF (Front engine, Front drive) sports coupe in the world in its day. Sadly, the car's lifespan was a short one. Facing declining coupe sales in Japan, the Type R ceased production in July 2006.''
