Abusive relationships come in many forms. Whether we're talking about an abusive relationship with another person, a toxic workplace, institution or even an abusive relationship with our own mind/ego/self. I invite you to watch this at least three times. Listening from the perspective of an abusive relationship with the colonial, capitalist system, then listen from the perspective of an abusive relationship with another person, and then from the perspective of an abusive relationship with the voice in your head. Feel the feels. Think the thinks. What are your experiences of each? What do you they have in common? How did you overcome/get out/leave/escape? How can what you've learned from your experience with one, be applied to the other(s)? How can the strength and strategy you learned in the process of freeing yourself from one form, become the master key, enabling you to free yourself from all? Breaking the cycle narcisstic relationship cycle takes alot, because by design it's based on a power imbalance, where one side is lured into becoming dependent on the other, (even if it's just in the mind). The same with colonialism, countries and people are usually coerced into becoming financially and/or psychologically dependent on the abuser. And likewise, how often do we fall back into default, toxic, ego-led thought patterns and decisions because we're too afraid to make decisions from a place of presence? This spoken word piece will be followed up by a think piece for those who feel drawn to this and want to move into this a little deeper.
