The Korg KR-55 is a non programmable drum machine produced by Korg in 1979. It is the successor of the Korg Mini Pops series. It features 48 preset patterns and the volume of each drum sound can be individually adjusted for each pattern. These patterns cover the whole spectrum of presets (Waltz, Samba, Rhumba, Bossa Nova, Tango, Slow Rock, Swing, Rock, etc.). The KR-55 also features a "swing beat" control to add a variation to the groove. It can also be externally controlled via a footswitch jack for the Start/Stop and Intro/Fill switches. The KR-55 drum machine gained its fame primarily through its appearance on Depeche Mode's "Speak & Spell" album in 1981, and it found its way into the setup of Cabaret Voltaire, taking over from their trusty old E-Harmonix DRM-32. It has a very different sound to the Roland machines of that era. Though its kick lacks the booming resonance of Roland counterparts, careful EQ tweaking can still pack a punch that might catch you off guard. Additionally, certain percussion voices possess a striking quality that leaves competitors like the CR-8000 in the dust! #korg #korgkr55 #drummachines #depechemode
