As the seasons change, many people around the world are affected, feeling down and experiencing a lack of energy. When this happens during the winter months, we call it Winter Depression and when it happens during the summer months, we call it Summer Depression. Both Winter and Summer Depressions are what we refer to as Seasonal Affective Disorder. This is a type of depression that follows the seasons, with symptoms worsening as the season progresses and then subsides again with the next change of season. In this video, we look at the symptoms to look out for – both the ones that are shared for summer and winter depression, and those that are unique to each type of SAD, we look at the suspected causes of the development of SAD and most importantly, we look at treatment options, and what we can do ourselves to prevent SAD or reduce the impact it has on our wellbeing. I share my seven best tips on how to beat SAD and protect your mental wellbeing during the changing seasons.
