Today while feeling fairly crappy, I decided to do something different with a Boss Metal Zone. We all like to joke and tease about the Mt-2, and many equate it with harsh nasally distortion. There are tons of mods on the interwebz discussing how to change it into a better distortion, but I wanted to do something different. ----(Continued below, including the exact mods. Click "Show More") I figured it might be a bit funny to have a Metal Zone on a pedalboard but yet have it not do distortion. So, I worked up a couple of mods. On this video I show you one overdrive mod, and in a couple days I'll have a few more mods that change it into something other than a high gain distortion pedal. The changes I do on this video are: Remove c35 Remove c25 Change c34 - .o47uf Remove D4 and D3 Install diodes and 100pf cap in place of c28. Note that you can keep it symmetrical if you prefer. Here I show you how to make it asymmetrical. Change r41 - 4.7k Change c30 .o47uf Remove c17, Q7, Q8 You'll see some annotations on this video as I made a few mistakes while talking, but just keep in mind I was suffering from the man flu.
