In this video, we’ll show you the hidden gems and must-try spots that make Thonglor a food lover's paradise. Thong Lo (Thai: ทองหล่อ, RTGS: Thong Lo, pronounced [tʰɔ̄ːŋ lɔ̀ː]; also spelled Thong Lor), officially named Soi Sukhumvit 55, is a road and neighbourhood in Watthana District, Bangkok, Thailand. Thong Lo literally translates as 'molten gold'. Its name comes from that of a naval officer, Thonglo Khamhiran, a member of the Khana Ratsadon (People's Party), a 1932 revolutionary group. He owned land and houses in the area. In pre-World War II Thailand, the area along Sukhumvit Road to the Bang Na District was suburban Bangkok and quasi-rural. Much of the area was occupied by the navy. Thong Lo runs from the Thong Lo BTS Station on Sukhumvit Road north to Phetchaburi Road. Originally housing car dealerships and dowdy shops, during the early-2000s it became increasingly trendy. In 2017, to the dismay of many, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) cracked down on the neighbourhood's street food vendors. 🎥 Highlights: 🛼 The Commons in Thong Lo the COMMONS, a hip community space that brings together food, retails, and activity concepts. There are two locations as of this moment: Saladaeng and Thonglor, opened since 2015. the COMMONS has four levels: The Market (Fl. M), Village (Fl. 1), Play Yard (Fl. 2), and Top Yard (Fl. 3). Aside from bars and food establishments, the Village has a hair salon, a pet boutique, and a few retails stores. The Play Yard has spaces for families and fitness enthusiasts. The architect's intention is to build first a community, then a mall. We want to be Thonglor’s backyard, a place where one can spend quality time in the neighborhood while being a little closer to nature. 🍕 Marche ThongLor Situated in the vibrant epicenter of Thonglor, one of Bangkok's most illustrious avenues for modern lifestyle and nocturnal entertainment, Marche Thonglor has undergone a transformative evolution. 🍜 Saew Fish Ball Noodle served with handmade fish balls, fish dumplings and wontons." Dont forget to ask for extra tofu fish ball!! One of the best pork noodle in town. Light soup , simply delicious! Let’s try dry-tomyam noodle! ☕️ Flat + White Cafe This is a modern white-minimalist café in the heart of Thonglor, Flat+White Café is the latest rave in town. Walking in this 5-story white building, you would find this clean-looking, sleek space with elegant style. The wave-shaped wall décor, it is said to be inspired by the softness of milk cream and microfoam, characteristic of Flat White Coffee.
