As part of our series on fifth gen fighter aircraft, earlier in 2024 we looked at the Shenyang FC-31, or J-31. Originally a competitor to the J-20, the concept lost out, becoming a privately funded venture. Emerging as a working prototype in 2012, and publicly unveiled in 2014, the J-31 nonetheless slowly faded into relative obscurity. However, in November 2024, at the Zhuhai Air show in China, the new J-35A made an impressive debut.
