The a6500 can do 120fps 1080p AND 4k 24/30…just like the a7iii! If the a7iii offered something like 4k60 (the gh5 has this, but there’s a lot more you’re sacrificing with that). Yes, the a7iii is full-frame. Which, to make it extremely simple, means the a7iii is 50% better in low-light, the background blur is 50% blurrier, and the lenses are 50% wider. It’s tiny! It fits in your backpack. Or your pocket. We carry it in arielle’s purse, too! Small cameras are also more “toy-ish”, and less imposing when you pull them out in public. OK, to the lens. This sigma 30 is a BEAST. It’s like $300 to buy alone if you have the camera. That’s a killer deal. Most people say it’s the sharpest lens there is for APS-C Sony cameras. That includes all the lenses SONY made for THEIR OWN CAMERAS. It’s cinematic AF. I love the separation you’re able to achieve between the foreground, background and subject. This lens is a great storytelling lens because it’s the perfect focal distance (almost a 50mm on a crop sensor camera like the Sony a6500). It’s killer in low-light. Anytime the sun goes down this is the lens I shoot with exclusively. The colors are insane and it just makes me happy to work with the footage that comes out of it! OK, the negatives...The focus ring sucks. It goes further the faster you move it! Which means if I go slow like this, a half-turn gets me this far, but if I go fast like this, we’re all the way at infinity. It’s USELESS to me unless using it really slow. It’s not internally stabilized like my Zeiss 16-70, but thats OK with the a6500 because the sensor IS stabilized! I keep thinking about buying the a7iii, but this combo is just too good. I can’t.
