It's truly time for me to stop hoarding art supplies and re-evaluate my relationship with, not only art materials, but "stuff" in general. I'm looking forward to breaking the habit of wanting more—because, that's exactly the problem, it's become a habit. And is in turn reducing the quality of my life. Hopefully some of you can relate, but regardless of whether or not you agree with my thought process, feel free to share your opinions below :) This art piece was your standard case of: "it's not coming together as I hoped, so I'm just going to throw 10 different mediums at it". One day, I'll get to the point where I don't have to fall back on this method as a crutch. The woman in the reference photo [https://bit.ly/3bj3YQs] looks nothing like the end result of this piece, but I'm glad she at least looks human. Capturing likenesses isn't my forte. And again, it's something that I really plan to work on this year. Granted, I used the reference to capture the pose and draw in the facial features. Once I had my simple sketch down, I put it away. I suppose the key to capturing a likeness is to refer to the reference throughout the creation process. . . doh!! So that one's totally on me haha. The supplies I used are linked below, and are mostly student-grade materials. I would love to one-day upgrade to professional-grade materials, especially if I improve enough to be comfortable with selling originals; however, it all depends on how 2021 goes. After my no-buy year, I'll re-evaluate where I'm at in terms of both skill and mentality, and decide whether professional materials are something that I truly need. We shall see~ As usual, thank you so much for taking the time to watch this video.
