I alway imagined that this would be a summer project, simply because of the sheer amount of work that needs to happen. Winter in Canada ranges from quite mild, to practically unliveable, and here we fall right in the middle. The inside of the home is where we get tho really get creative, make things comfortable and all kinds of interesting functional, but first we had to get the outside wrapped up. The original plan was to go with a much cheaper and easier material, T1-11but I am so thankful Mike talked me into going in the direction of tin siding. This product will out perform and outlast anything else on the market, and for my purpose of being only an occasional dwelling, it will withstand long periods of absence without concern. The installation of the panels is quite straight forward, until you get to anything that isn't just a flat wall. Roof lines, doors, windows and corners all come with a different procedure and must be done correctly. I am so thankful to have had the professional help on this portion of the build. With the price point of this Cladding, you definitely want it done correctly, and it will never let you down. I couldn't possibly recommend Mike and Paul enough, and if you are looking for home contractors, your time and money will be very well spent with them. Mike, Cos Corp - 250-398-0978 Paul, Neutral Roofing - 250-305-6324 With the outside wrapped up, it was finally time to push our focus to the inside, and priority number one was the wood stove. Having been preparing for this build for several months now, I have been scooping up sale items any chance I can, and I was super lucky to come across a great sale on this little wood stove. This is a chapter I have been so excited to dive into, and so far it has been incredibly enjoyable. Certainly a healthy level of stress and concern, what with all of the holes in my beautiful new siding and fire inside my beautiful new home, but to feel the comfort of that wood heat is a bright light at the end of the tunnel. We have a little more learning, and a fair bit more work to do, but our first fire in the new home is well within sight. These are moments that will stay with me for a lifetime, and I am so honoured to be able to share them all with you.
