Part 1 of 4. With a string of loaded Greenville woodchip hoppers in tow, AKMD 703 departs McGehee, heading towards the Clearwater Paper Mill at Cypress Bend. The AKMD Clearwater Branch is a stretch of track that was once owned by the Missouri Pacific Railroad, then the Union Pacific after the merger, then it was sold to Pinsly Arkansas. This line was also part of the route of Missouri Pacific's "Delta Eagle" passenger train that once ran from West Memphis, AR to Tallulah, LA. Most of the route of the "Delta Eagle" was abandoned from West Memphis to just south of Rohwer, AR and has been converted into a trail. The rest of the route from McGehee to Tallulah, LA is now owned by the North Louisiana & Arkansas Railroad, which is a subsidiary of the Dardanelle & Russellville Railroad. At the end, is a shot of my '99 Chevrolet Tahoe and the McGehee High School. Sorry for the quality of the video. My camera wanted to act up for some reason.
