This is a Motormouth couple car review of the 2025 Mazda CX-90 PHEV mid-size, 3-row SUV. This 2025 Mazda CX-90 PHEV is powered by a 2.5L 4-cylinder with an 8-speed automatic transmission, it gets a combined 323 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque on premium fuel. You can use regular fuel but the horsepower drops a little to 319 horsepower, the torque number stays the same. This model has a 17.8 kWh battery with 42 km/26 miles of range, standard rear-biased AWD. We haven’t been a huge fan of this model because of the jerky transmission but it has received some software updates and we see some improvements just like the inline-6 gas model. It’s not perfect but better. This 2025 Mazda CX-90 PHEV comes standard with a noise isolating windshield, noise isolating driver and front passenger windows and a heat pump. We are driving the top 2025 Mazda CX-90 PHEV trim with a beautiful blue exterior and a white napa leather trimmed interior with a white leather dash, stitching and contrasting piping. This model has the larger dual 12.3” screens with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto. The larger screen becomes a touchscreen when using Carplay and Android Auto. The trims are a little different in Canada and the US. The US 2025 Mazda CX-90 PHEV gets more standard features and I am disappointed the Canadian PHEV doesn’t come standard with the larger touchscreen like the US. This is a 7-8 passenger vehicle and in Canada, the base model is the only trim offered with a bench seat, the other two trims have captain’s chairs. In the US, you have two bench seat trim options. In Canada, the 2025 Mazda CX-90 PHEV starts at $57,231 CAD, GS-L $62,081 CAD and GT $66,681 CAD. Price as tested $66,931 CAD (Pricing includes, freight, PDI and fees). In the US, Preferred $49,945 USD, Premium Sport $54,900 USD and Premium Plus $57,950 USD (MSRP). 2025 Mazda CX-90 PHEV. fuel Economy, the CX-90 PHEV earns a combined city/highway rating of 4.2Le/100km, 56 MPGe. With the battery depleted it gets a combined 9.4L/100km, 25 MPG combined.
