After over 2 years of living in the Philippines, I’m back in the U.S., and this time, I’m staying with my Filipino-American friend in California! (I have Doctors appointments all next week before heading to Michigan!) Even though she’s Filipino by heritage, she’s never fully explored the food of her own culture — so I decided to change that. We took a trip to Island Pacific, a Filipino market, where we stocked up on iconic Filipino ingredients and snacks. For dinner, we created a Filipino-American fusion feast — half Filipino food, half American food — combining the best of both worlds. But the real adventure began when we decided to try BALUT at home for the first time! This was my first time boiling it myself, and it was her first time EVER trying it. Our reactions say it all!
