Daiwa Tournament TS5000T MARATHON ! Diagnosed,Repaired and serviced

Daiwa Tourny 5000T brought to me with multiple issues, loose rotor, loose handle, slight sticking of the spool shaft, but initially seemed to oscillate OK. Aside from some obvious water damage inside, one of the first things I found was a screw that didn't belong inside, stuck to some grease in a corner...... Further inspection showed the drive gear, and pinion gear both had excessive wear. On removing the worm gear, that also had signs of damage, but to add insult to injury, whoever serviced it last fitted two after market bearings, one of which was 1mm too small in diameter ! So after a lengthy clean up, parts inspection and replacement, the reel is finally back together, smooth as one fresh out of the box, and all tweaked and tightened up, and good for 20 years more hard graft on the bank if looked after and serviced periodically by a competent reel technician !
