On The Newshour Agenda, with Padmaja Joshi, we discuss the video that went viral on social media where the 25-year-old was seen being beaten up by men who accused him of harassing women on the pretext of selling bangles on the occasion of Rakhi and warning him to not set foot again in a “Hindu kshetra (area)”. 4-5 men thrashed a Muslim bangle seller in Indore for allegedly using a fake Hindu name. The attackers accosted the man and threw out his wares from his bag, and then assaulted him. After the video went viral, the police arrested two of the attackers. Narottam Mishra, Minister for Home Affairs, Law and Legislative Affairs, Prisons, and Parliamentary Affairs in the Government of Madhya Pradesh says, the man was targeted since he tried to hide his religious identity. However, the opposition says that the attack is communal. Watch the debate to know more.
