France on Red Alert… Again! | Storms, Tree Work & A Road Trip

Oh how we love a road trip — and this one took us to one of France’s most beautiful regions: the Lot. But before we hit the road, it was a very full week of activity. We kicked things off at the gym — which took every ounce of motivation because I absolutely did not want to go! But we showed up, got it done, and tied it in with the weekly grocery shop, where it seemed like half of France was stocking up after Storm Nils. The next day, we joined Mark on a tree-pruning job. It was a long one with a few unexpected snags along the way, but we powered through and got everything finished. And then — believe it or not — another storm system began forming along the Atlantic coast. France was once again lit up with red weather warnings. Thankfully, we escaped lightly this time, and the whole thing blew over within a couple of hours. By the weekend, it was time to prep for our road trip to the Lot to visit our Belgian friends, Micha and Yasmine, who run the wonderful B&B 46, nestled beneath the stunning village of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie. If you’re looking to explore the Lot and soak up its incredible scenery and rich history, it’s absolutely worth a visit. We were lucky enough to have a dry day to explore the medieval village of Marcilhac-sur-Célé. At its heart stands an impressive abbey dating back to the 9th century. Partially in ruins, it’s still breathtaking — towering arches and cloister pillars slowly being reclaimed by nature. The village also sits along the Camino de Santiago route, which remains popular with walkers and pilgrims today. Thank you so much for watching this episode of France Unfiltered.
