On this episode I go over some of the different types of automotive scan tools that are out on the market. All of the scan tools that I am discussing cover all makes and models from model year 1996 and up (OBD2). A basic code reader will simply pull codes and erase codes but, it is the cheapest option. An entry level scan tool like a Bluedriver has many more functions and communicates with many more modules. The Bluedriver or other entry level scan tools will also have a data stream function showing live sensor readings. Finally I'm going to go over the some of the basic capabilities of a professional bi-directional scan tool.
