At Christmas we meet a Child unlike any other. Isaiah announces His name: Mighty God—the eternal Son through whom all things were created, sustained, and purposed. Yet He comes to us wrapped in weakness, laid in a manger, willingly stepping into poverty and obscurity. The strength of Christ is not like the world’s strength. His power does not dominate; it delivers. His might does not intimidate; it restores. In our weakness, weariness, and limits, the gospel proclaims that Christ is our strength. The One who spoke light into existence also speaks peace into troubled hearts. The One who holds galaxies in place also holds His people steady when life shakes. He enters our brokenness, carries our burdens, and makes His power perfect in the very places we feel most inadequate. Advent reminds us that God’s answer to the world’s darkness is not self-improvement or religious striving, but divine intervention. We do not climb our way to strength; Strength has come down to us. Jesus, the Mighty God, conquers sin’s grip, shatters the finality of death, and brings the power we could never manufacture on our own. And today, by His Spirit, He strengthens us to endure, obey, love, and hope. As we navigate seasons of confusion, suffering, or fear, let us take hold of this promise: “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” The Mighty God is not only powerful—He is present. His nearness is our courage, and His grace is our strength. The Child in the manger meets us in our weakness, lifts us in our frailty, and carries us with unfailing, victorious grace.
