We hooked up this sweet Tamarindo Catamaran Sunset tour through the El Diria hotel. We're staying at a VRBO condo across the street but have access to all the amenities including their touring counter. We booked with Marlin Del Rey and met on the beach at 1:15pm. From there we were tendered by boat out to the catamaran. It was a beautiful boat and the staff was incredible. We had an open bar including beer and mixed drinks like Pina Coladas, margaritas, etc. The bar never ran dry! The kids had virgin mixes and really thought that was cool. Once aboard we cruised about an hour north and dropped anchor for some snorkeling and swimming. Wasn't quite sure what to expect as the water wasn't as clear as someplace like Molokini Crater in Hawaii. Saw a bunch of fish swimming around, a huge school of fish, some yellow bellied sea snakes all cruising around the volcanic rock (which was sharp!). After about an hour and a half of snorkeling, we got back on the boat and were treated to a small meal. BBQ chicken, rice, beans, chips, salsa, and cookies. All of it was HOMEMADE by the staff on the Marlin del Rey. After eating, we turned back towards Tamarindo and began the sunset part of the cruise. Along the way we saw a huge humpback whale that was tailed by a bunch of dolphins, flying fish, more sea snakes. The grand finale was a beautiful sunset, it went by a lot quicker than I'd expected. Not a cloud in the sky. All in all, this was an awesome tour. $85 for adults and $60 for kids under 11.
