Hi! here I demonstrate step-by-step procedure to simulate methane reforming process in ASPEN Plus. The process begins with simulating an equilibrium reactor followed by a flash drum, where water is removed from the gaseous product. In the first part, you will set up the equilibrium reactor to model the methane reforming reaction, ensuring the proper input of components. After the reactor, the product stream is directed to a flash drum, where water is separated from the gas mixture and recycled to the reactor. In the 2nd part simulation focuses on removing hydrogen from the gaseous product using a hydrogen-selective membrane. Students will learn how to use ASPEN Plus custom modeling to define a membrane, as it is not available in the default unit operations. This involves creating a custom model to represent the membrane's separation properties and integrating it into the flowsheet to achieve the desired separation of hydrogen. By the end of this demonstration, you will have a comprehensive understanding of simulating methane reforming, separating liquid and gas using a flash drum, and defining a custom membrane for hydrogen separation in ASPEN Plus.
