Every winter, the fjords of Northern Norway become an extraordinary place as Killer whales and Humpbacks they move into the fjords following the overwintering herring. For many years the focus was on the relationship between herring vessels and the whales. Now our attention turns to the behaviour of the tourists. If you look up whale watching in Northern Norway you will be met with videos full of once in a lifetime encounters and epic underwater footage. It is all our responsibility as tourists to do due diligence before having any encounter with wildlife. Do your research. Always go with a responsible operator. Add on a day or two to increase your chances of a sighting and to take the pressure off operators.
