Better late than never. Here's some more Slipknot for your ears today. From the 2004 album "Vol. 3 (The Bla Bla Bla)" I'm covering "Before I Forget." This album was the first Slipknot album I owned and my first experience with heavier metal. Even though I would categorize Slipknot as part of the nu-metal subgenre, the band has always offered glimpses into heavier territory. "Vol. 3 (The Whatever. Who Cares?)" is also my favorite Slipknot album. The blend of anger and aggression that made the two previous albums so successful, on the one hand, and heartfelt melancholy on the other, perfectly complements the sound. Production-wise, the band also took a huge leap forward. Not only were there new masks, but Rick Ruben also had a hand in the production. I hope the band can deliver another album like this some day.
