Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has warned that it could halt all oil exports from the Middle East if US and Israeli strikes continue, raising fears of a major global energy shock. The threat centres on the Strait of Hormuz, the world’s most critical oil shipping route, through which a large share of global crude supplies passes each day. US President Donald Trump has responded with a sharp warning of “much harder” retaliation if Iran attempts to block the vital energy corridor.
