In this video, I explain why it’s important to focus on results; create content for other people; and think about what makes you stand out. The first tip is the most important. Position what you’re offering not by the value of your time but by the result that you can achieve for your client. Here’s why: when you focus on results, you’re showing that the client is what’s important. It shows that their success is what matters – not yours. For example, if you’re a health coach someone might pay you an hourly rate based on how you value your time. However, if you ask how important losing weight is for the client, the conversation changes. This kind of positioning strategy gets the client thinking about how their life can improve. The second tip is to create great content for other people. When you’re starting out, you start from zero; you have no traffic and no audience. If you post on your own website, no one will see it. This makes it hard to show what makes you stand out. If you can go to where there already is an audience, you’ll get more exposure. And the final tip is to be able to communicate your difference. When you offer something to your clients, they might doubt your ability to help them. You have to be able to share why their earlier attempts to solve their problem did not work. Tell them what makes you stand out. If you want to charge more, this is the kind of positioning strategy that’ll give you the authority to back up the prices you set.
