Topic of Discussion: The extensive dialogue helped us gauge Sir’s insights on the sorts of resistance that arbitrators in Asia are likely to encounter and the means to resolve them. The discussion furthered to suggest progressive measures to arbitrators in India to regard competence to the arbitration hubs like Singapore and London. Sir shared an analytical perspective on the SIAC Rules, 2007 and the responsibility of institutions to preserve the confidentiality of arbitration proceedings. Sir’s humbleness and gratitude lead us to address the ethical duties of an arbitrator towards its clients and the concept of arbitral immunity. Furthermore, Sir emphasized on an ardent need for a general set of norms regarding enforcement and recognition of the awards. Lastly, we were privileged to have Sir’s insights on the foreseeable impact of COVID-19 on the cross-border and domestic arbitrations and the role of interpersonal skills in the virtual set up.
