Snowfall In Finland: Walking In A Snowstorm In Iisalmi (Nov 2021)

A narrated 4K walk during snowfall in Iisalmi in northern Savonia, in the middle of Finland. This 40-minute walk through a snowstorm has winter scenes of the city, although sometimes the buildings are hard to see from the snow. This was one of the first snowstorms of the winter and marked the start of snowy winter weather with the snow staying on the ground and freezing temperatures since then. Join me for a snowday walk where snowfall continues throughout the whole video and fresh snow piles on the ground. If you are here for the snow, some of the best bigger snowflakes appear towards the middle and end of the video. :) The walk starts on the main street of Pohjolankatu and continues past the Pyhän Ristin kirkko church (Holy Cross) to the waterside of lake Porovesi, although we only see the snow on its surface. I then take Kauppakatu over to the market square as the snowstorm intensifies a bit. From there we return to Church Park, Kirkkopuisto, and see the Orthodox church, Profeetta Elian kirkko, and the beautiful wooden buildings in this district. I make my way along the smaller streets back to the main street of Pohjolankatu where the walk ends while it's still snowing. Iisalmi has a population of just over 21000 people and was granted town status as early as 1891.There are 111 lakes in the Iisalmi region. Iisalmi is by the lake Porovesi, "Reindeer water". There is a train connection to the capital Helsinki several times a day and the journey lasts over 5 hours, whether by train or car.
