As 2025 comes to a close, the Collective Joy Project invites you to our final gathering of the year—an exploration of joy, ritual, and collective memory through the lens of resistance and creativity. Our November conversation, “Rhythms of Resistance: Joy, Ritual, and Collective Memory,” features Aïma Paule (they/them)—also known as Aïma the Dreamer—a multidisciplinary artist, cultural organizer, and performer based in Oakland, CA. For over two decades, Aïma has created music, film, and community-rooted cultural experiences that uplift QTBIPOC communities and center joy, ritual, and liberation. As co-founder of Soulovely and co-director of the Femme Rage film trilogy, their work moves fluidly between art and ancestry, using creativity as both celebration and resistance.
