Lesson Objective: To begin the process of transcribing interviews from your research in the first Verbatim Theatre lesson NOTE: Make sure you watch the first lesson before starting this one...it'll probably make more sense.    • What is Verbatim Theatre? // Drama Lesson ...   Task 1 - Transcribing Selected your favourite interview from the previous lesson. You are now going to write down what they told you as a script...exactly as they said it! You will need to include all the mistakes, the mispronunciations, the ohs, the ums, the ahs, the pauses the random expressions. This is because a Verbatim Theatre script allows us to hear how people really talk. Here’s a short example of what it might look like: PERSON 1 - "No- no, no – um – well, I didn’t really know what I was doing and - uh, and um, I, I just had to do something" You probably won’t use punctuation as you normally do, the sentences might be really long or very short: the transcript (that’s the proper name for it) will look a bit odd! Task 2: Refinement If you have time after your have completed the initial script. Go back and listen again 2 or 3 times and try to follow your transcription.
