Ramona and Billings got to return to their home in the Happy Forest today, where they will continue to receive daily care and feeding year-round. More than 40 of their family and friends showed up to welcome them home, and they both seemed thrilled to be back. Ramona waited until I moved out of sight to leave her crate and scamper off, and her pal Magda provided a diversion and blocked the camera so no one would see her go. It’s ok, though, because she came back about a half hour later with Billings for some snacks. I stayed for several hours to make sure everyone looked good. We will all miss Ramona at HQ, but are so happy she can feel safe and free again. She deserves the best life possible, and we will do everything in our power to give that to her…. on HER terms. And while we do respect her terms, we will also do everything in our power to convince her that life with humans isn’t so bad after all, in hopes that she might be happy coming back in someday and finding a home. This has happened with several feral adults at the Happy Forest, who responded over time to playtime and feeding with our awesome feeding station volunteers.
