Together with my two friends Felix and Roland I set off for Rimini. There we are participants in the 9th Transitalia Marathon. https://www.transitaliamarathon.com This extends over 4 days with a total distance of around 1,000km, with around 70% of it being on unpaved roads. Navigation is done via roadbook. (If you don't want or can't do that, you can also get a GPX track as an alternative, to use this with a navigation system.) Since this is our first time taking part, we are very excited what will await us. This first episode is all about the arrival and personal acclimatization on site. STAGE 1 - Rimini - Città the Castello The wait is finally over! We start the first stage of the Transitalia Marathon. This takes us about 190 km across the Umbrian Apennines from Rimini to Città die Castello. ===== STAGE 2 - Città di Castello - Chianciano Therme We start at the market square in Città die Castello and drive south, past Lake Trasimeno. Then we continue from Umbria to Tuscany Finally, after about 270 km, we end in Chianciano Therme. ===== STAGE 3 - Chianciano Thermal Baths - Follonica PURE TUSCANY! We start in front of the Aquasanta thermal baths in Chianciano Therme and drive approx. 220 km west to Follonica to the Tyrrhenian Sea. ===== STAGE 4 - Follonica - Riccione TRANSITALIA! On the 4th and longest stage, almost 400 kilometers long, we go straight through Italy.
