MODIFICATION - REAL STEEL LOWER ON A WE M16A1 | AIRSOFT In this video I will try to install a real M16 lower on a Wei-Tech M16A1. I've seen the result of people doing this for other platforms, with proper equipment. I don’t have that. This is not a how-to. This is more of a how-NOT-to. Can I do this for my Wei-Tech and using only my semi-semi-pro makeshift mill, with zip ties? Let’s find out. STEP 2: ASSESSING I start by assessing where I need to modify STEP 3: DIFFERENCE REAL vs. RS SO here we have the we on the left and the REAL steel lower on the right. STEP 4: REMOVING EXCESS MATERIAL Now I can’t procrastinate any more. Affixing the lower in my semi-semi-pro, makeshift mill with zip ties. STEP 5: DRILLING I set the depth on my drill, with the help of some masking tape, and remove as much material as I dare. STEP 6: TRIGGER HOLE Time to enlarge the trigger hole in accordance with Wei-Tech specs. STEP 7: DUMMY PINS The empty holes for the auto sear and trigger pin looks a bit off, so I 3d-print four dummies. STEP 8: THE CURSED JOURNEY ENDS Now I can have a Vietnam flashback of my very own STEP 9: THE RESULT And here it is. A fully converted, real-steel, M16A1 lower for airsoft use! Let’s ooh and aah as she turns. Note that I’m performing these modifications at my own risk. These alterations can go very wrong if you lack the skills, tools and knowledge required, and can damage your equipment and parts as well as cause injury on your person if you attempt them yourself.
