Ukrainian soldiers inspected a damaged village on Tuesday in the Kyiv region retaken from Russian forces. Heavily damaged houses could be seen on the side of a road, as filmed from a moving car. Several buses, a children's playground and residential buildings were also damaged. In one of the buildings, the soldiers found an abandoned dog, who was left behind by his owners when they fled the violence. Bavaria, the dog's name according to documents found inside the flat, was taken away by the soldiers, who are hoping to reunite her with her owners. Russia promised on Tuesday to scale down military operations around Kyiv and another city but the United States warned the threat was not over as Ukraine proposed adopting a neutral status in a sign of progress at face-to-face negotiations. Talks took place in an Istanbul palace more than a month into the largest attack on a European nation since World War Two that has killed or injured thousands, forced nearly 4 million to flee abroad and pummelled Russia's economy with sanctions.
